Our Story
Murphy & Wood Garden Centre has been part of the local gardening community since 1985, when Pat Murphy and Brian Wood established a garden centre built around quality plants and genuine horticultural knowledge. Over the years, we've grown alongside our customers, earning a reputation for friendly service, healthy plants, and honest advice that people can rely on. In 2025, we proudly celebrated 40 years in business, an important milestone that reflects the support of generations of loyal customers and the dedication of everyone who has been part of our journey. Today, the garden centre continues under the management of Shane and Donna O'Dea, whose passion for horticulture and commitment to exceptional customer service ensure the values on which the business was founded remain as strong as ever.
More Than a Place to Buy Plants
We believe a visit to a garden centre should feel inspiring as well as enjoyable. That's why our grounds are filled with beautifully planted display beds, mature planting, and a peaceful pond that encourages visitors to slow down, explore, and gather ideas for their own gardens. Many of the planting combinations you see around the centre have been created to demonstrate how colours, textures, and seasonal interest can work together naturally. Alongside familiar favourites, we also make a conscious effort to source unusual and specialist plants, giving customers the opportunity to discover varieties they may not find elsewhere.
